THROUGH THE LENS: 125 years of Johannesburg Photography

“Join Past Experiences for an amazing look at Johannesburg through it’s vintage photography. You will be walking through the city, mainly in and around Marshalltown, armed with a booklet of pictures, visiting the sites of famous photos taken of our beautiful buildings over the past 125 years and reconnecting with shops, markets and businesses that have literally gone down in history. You will also be given a disc with the photographs on for later reference use at home. This tour is also a great opportunity for you to take photos of your own on one of the most picturesque walks through the CBD, passing most of the grand old ladies that are still standing in Jozi. We will end off the tour with a drink at the Guildhall, Jhb’s oldest bar overlooking Beyers Naude Square, the first Market Square in the dusty mining town that became one of Africa’s most influential centres of commerce in less than one century. DETAILS: Price: R220 (includes tour booklet and disc with images, 2 hour tour and a drink at the Guildhall, local beer, cider or soda) Meeting Place: Beyers Naude Square on the corner of Simmonds and Market Streets, Jhb.
