I’m human, I have rights #WorldPoetryday

Manufactured from the same human genome,
I am no gnome,
You curse and swear at the site of me,
To pain and emotion I am not immune, I am human.

You do not acknowledge my existence,
For I stood up and forged in resistance,
I have rights; the right to protest,
I am human.

You look at me with so much anger,
For the truth I revealed in that newspaper,
To threaten me do not bother,
I will not be moved,
Freedom of the press.

You make fun of me,
For in me a clown you see,
My dress code might be weird,
I may not talk like a woman,
But then again, I’m human
Thus I too have freedom of expression

I may be short,
I may be black,
I may be poor,
That doesn’t make me any less human,
Just like you I have rights;
I am human and I have rights!

Happy Human Rights Day
